2008 BMW 3 Series Midsize Coupe
What Edmunds.com Says:A more advanced hardtop design should maintain the appeal of BMW’s entry-level convertible.
What We Know: BMW had originally scheduled to bring its fifth-generation 3 Series coupe to market toward the end of 2006, but it now looks that the vehicle’s American release will be delayed until a few months after its European arrival in the early spring of 2007. The 2008 3 Series Coupe will use for the first time a three-part, retractable metal hardtop, no doubt sensing the imminent four-seat convertible competition from the Volvo C70. The only disadvantage in combining these two forms into one car should be diminished trunk space that will result from the stowage of the Edscha-built folding roof. Look for the 2008 BMW 3 Series Coupe to make its debut at either the Geneva or Paris auto shows, with U.S. sales beginning no earlier than the spring of 2007.
