2007 Honda CR-V
Honda introduced the production version of its Acura RDX at the New York Auto Show earlier this month. But it still hasn’t unveiled the RDX’s sibling, the Honda CR-V. But here is a spy photo of the next-generation CR-V undergoing testing in Australia.
Not that this is a surprise, but the new CR-V will grow in size. Overall, the new CR-V is similar in size and shape to the RDX but the CR-V will have a downsloping rear side window, giving the CR-V a unique profile. The CR-V will also have high-mounted, vertical taillights similar to the current model. One big change for the CR-V is a tailgate that now hinges on top instead of the sides.
The prototype CR-V also has a single exhaust at the tail, instead of the dual pipes of the RDX. The new CR-V is expected to use the same a 2.4L engine as the RDX, but will not be turbocharged.
The new CR-V will not follow Toyota’s RAV4 as far up market and will continue with two rows of seating for 5 people.
The next-generation Honda CR-V is expected to be introduced in September as a 2007 model.
