Toyota Indonesia produces SUVS
Car maker PT Toyota Motor Manufacturing (TMMIN) announced it will produce 15,000 units of Toyota Fortuner this year for exports to the Middle East, a spokesman said.
“The production of Fortuner at TMMIN will spend Rp48 billion [US$5.3 million] in investments and this project will help ensure smooth distribution of IMV [innovative international multipurpose vehicles] which are popular in the global market,” the company’s corporate public relations manager, Irwan Priyantoko said.
Fortuner is another model of SUV (sport utility vehicle) from the IMV global project owned by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC).
TMMIN is expected to start exporting the Fortuner to the Middle East in November 2006, he said.
TMC has appointed Indonesia as its base for the production of MPV (multi purpose vehicles) and SUV.
