Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR722 GT
The RML Group has massaged the supercharged AMG 5.5-liter V8 to produce 671 horsepower and 612 pound-feet of torque. Top speed is pegged at 196 mph, with 0-60-mph acceleration in less than 3.3 seconds.
Borrowing from the Ferrari FXX script, the SLR722 GT was developed specifically for members of the SLR Club and is intended for use in the new SLR Club Trophy racing series in Europe. RML says no street-legal version is planned.
The tuner replaced or redesigned 400 individual components on the SLR, upgrading the suspension, brakes, exhaust and aerodynamics. Notice the new front apron and splitter, wider fenders, more prominent side skirts, fixed rear wing and large rear diffuser, all designed to improve high-speed airflow.
RML has pared weight to a mere 3,064 pounds, even after adding such mandatory items as a roll cage and racing bucket seats with six-point belts.
Membership in the SLR Club gives you access to such expert instructors as David Coulthard, Klaus Ludwig and Jochen Mass.
