Kitchens and utility areas call for bright general lighting along with task lighting for countertops and prep areas. The choice of kitchen lighting fixtures is crucial if you want to be effective in putting the needed brightness in the room. In the kitchen island, the part where cooking is done, the right level of brightness of the light fixture should be enough for you to do your tasks right. Accent lighting is used to highlight features of your kitchen – cabinets, cooker alcoves, or art work for example. Down lights or wall lights can be used plus there are many different shelf lights which can add a real wow factor to your kitchen.
